Acid Bath was a sludge metal band formed in Louisiana in 1991. They helped to create the sub-genre of sludge, and were quite possibly the greatest band of this style of metal. Dax Riggs' voice is unique and his vocal range is one that needs to be heard to fully be appreciated. The band's songs are on the extreme side of the metal genre and fit perfectly with the image they created- one of anger and rage, while keeping a bluesy sound. The album When The Kite String Pops is undoubtedly one of the greatest metal albums and one that is highly regarded among critics of the genre. The band split up after their bassist Audie Pitre was killed in a car accident. They attempted to continue on as a whole, but found they had lost the drive they once had.
